The Fight Network is the world's premier provider of combat sports content. Our combat sports content (mixed martial arts (MMA), boxing, wrestling, kickboxing and other sports) is delivered across an entire range of branded delivery channels including digital cable and DTH satellite broadcast, broadband, major internet portals (yahoo.com and foxsports.com), mobile, radio and DVDs, all focused on reaching the rapidly expanding universe of fight fans around the world.
In addition to our steady slate of live events, such as K-1 Kickboxing, Showtime's Pro Elite XC and TKO MMA, and Versus and Golden Boy boxing promotions, the Fight network is the leading source of televised fight news content through shows such as Knockout News and Before and After the Bell. We also produce original, fight-related reality and entertainment series' (such as Rough and Wrestling Reality) and radio content (Live Audio Wrestling, Fight Network Radio), as well as broadcasting the best available third party produced combat sports content.
On radio, The Fight Network reaches our audience through The LAW (Live Audio Wrestling), a weekly behind-the-scenes take on pro wrestling and MMA, syndicated across Canada and on the web. Fight Network Radio is the hardest hitting news and talk show on combat sports, heard across North America on Channel 186 on Sirius satellite radio.
Online, The Fight Network launched our brand new rich media website in May, 2008. We have content partnerships with portals such as yahoo.com (where we are one of the leading video sports content providers) and FoxSports.com with major agreements to come in 2008.
The Fight Network successfully launched our first digital television channel, available on all major satellite and cable carriers, in Canada in 2005 with a subscriber base that has grown rapidly to over 450,000 television homes. The Fight Network U.K. launched on BSkyB on January 15, 2008 with immediate access to over 8.5 million homes.
The Company's reputation in the world of combat sports has attracted leading personalities like Randy Couture and Georges St. Pierre as ambassadors and shareholders. Most recently "Big" John McCarthy, the former head referee for the UFC and one of the best known personalities in MMA, joined the Company as a strategic advisor and full time on-air personality.
Anthony Cicione, General Manager
Chad Midgley, VP, Sales, & Programming
Prior to joining FIGHT, Chad spent his career with The Score, where he developed a new sports ticker that changed the industry, and was soon after adopted by ESPN, TSN and FoxSports. Chad is responsible for professional fighter relations, and exploiting those links in building brand awareness.
Chris Tapanila, VP, Production
Prior to joining FIGHT in December, 2005, Chris spent 8 years with the CTV/Discovery/TSN group, rising to Broadcast Designer, Producer and Senior Editor. He is credited with FIGHT's distinctive look, and is responsible for mapping out and implementing FIGHT's Master Control strategy.
Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors includes Loudon Owen and Ed Nordholm. The Company has established a nomination committee that is considering adding up to two more directors. The Board is active, makes fast decisions, and works hard with a small, focused team.
Loudon Owen, Chairman
Loudon is an experienced martial arts practitioner and student/trainer. He trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/MMA, and has cornered professional MMA fights around the world. He coached at the 2007 US Tae Kwon Do Open and was previously Ontario College Boxing Champion.
After practicing corporate/commercial and securities law with a major Canadian law firm, concentrating on M&A and technology financing, Mr. Owen became a major investor, director and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Softimage. Softimage achieved dominance in providing post-production technology to the advertising and movie industry and held a 75% world's market share for high end 3D animation software. Its software was used in feature films such as Jurassic Park. It was selected as one of the Forbes 100 Top Small Companies in the World, and created an enormous return for investors when it was the first public company Microsoft ever purchased.
As co-founder and a Managing Partner of McLean Watson Capital Inc, a venture capital firm with offices in Toronto, Canada and Singapore, Loudon has a long track record of successful investments and exits including: email marketing company Flonetwork, sold to Doubleclick in 2001; Lavalife, the internationally renowned dating platform, sold in 2004; Databeacon, the data publishing analysis and reporting solutions provider, sold to Cognos in 2005; and Ace Fusion (sold to Savi Technologies, then to Lockheed Martin) in 2006. He sits on the Boards of i4i, Vismand Exploration, Amplus Communications, Ntegrator (SGX), Quantec Geoscience and Dexit(TSX). Mr. Owen holds a BA (Toronto), LLB and MBA (INSEAD).
Ed Nordholm
Ed provides financing and strategic advice to companies in the media and technology industries, including providing and arranging venture financing, as well as restructuring expertise. Engagements have included angel funding of and management assistance to CTL ImmunoTherapies Corp., a bio-tech company that now resides within Mannkind Corp. (MNKD-NAS), refinancing and restructuring of Mirage Motion Media Limited and participation in the recapitalization of Dexit Inc. (DXT-TSX) through participation on the board and special committees.
Prior to joining Tricap Restructuring Fund, Mr. Nordholm was a partner with Torys LLP where his practice included financial workouts, capital restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets including the representation of Thompson/Woodbridge in the reorganization of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and subsequent reorganization of BellGlobemedia, and the recapitalization of Craig Broadcasting Inc.
Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Tricap Restructuring Fund, an investment fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (BAM-TSX and NYSE) that focuses on investments in companies requiring financial and/or operational restructuring.
